Dear Participants, Colleagues and Friends,

We are all concerned by the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and know that many of you have questions regarding what impact it may have on our congress. For now, none of our partners have cancelled their commitment with us. However, we are working on a back-up plan and alternatives in case we need to postpone or cancel the congress.

We completely understand that registered delegates, speakers and sponsors have a lot of questions at the moment regarding their participation to the congress. We therefore decided to add some more information to the FAQ’s and will come with new updates when possible. We also encourage you to strictly follow the measures taken by your country.

The well-being of our speakers, sponsors and participants is of course our top priority.

We hope you are and stay safe during the upcoming weeks!

FAQs

1Is the EMDR 2020 congress cancelled?
Many of you have reached out to ask us about a possible cancellation or postponement of EMDR 2020 this June, and you may be wondering why that hasn’t happened yet. Let us assure you that it’s not for lack of concern over this health crisis. We are working tirelessly on new plans for EMDR 2020 and our desire is to gather when it’s safe to do so. Our ability to pivot our plans for EMDR 2020 depends on governmental intervention, which has not yet occurred for the time period in which EMDR 2020 is scheduled. Unfortunately this means we're still in a holding pattern as we write this.
2What if the EMDR 2020 congress can’t go ahead due to health and safety regulations?
In case the German health authorities decide to prolong the current measurements, we are working on a back-up plan. This could mean the congress will get postponed or even cancelled for this year. However, this decision has not been made yet.
3What is the EMDR 2020 congress cancelation policy?
EMDR is a non-profit organization. At this stage it is unclear how much cancellation fees our suppliers/partners would charge us for postponing or cancelling the congress due to the covid-19 situation. Therefore, at this moment we must refer to our “regular” cancellation policy, which is as follows: Registrations cancelled in writing more than one month prior to the conference (May 8th, 2020) will be refunded after the conference less a 10% administration charge.
4Will the EMDR congress cancelation policy change?
It’s impossible for us to answer this question at this stage, but of course we aim on making a refund in case we need to cancel the congress with regards to the congress registrations fees or additional items ordered (workshops, social events).
5If the congress is cancelled are you refunding hotel costs?
No, EMDR will not refund individual hotel costs. For customers who booked a hotel via our registration link, the booking is non-refundable. As a third party, we are working closely with the hotels to find an optimal solution and will send an update in June. Some hotels are loosening their cancellation policies for certain areas affected by the coronavirus outbreak. However at this time the rate is non-refundable and we cannot confirm a refund will be processed by the hotel. In case you booked your room via another booking company or the hotel itself, please contact them directly.
6If the congress is cancelled are you refunding flight and other travel costs?
No, EMDR will not refund individual airline ticket costs. Please contact your airline directly regarding ticket cancellations and your hotel or booking agent regarding your accommodation. If you purchased travel insurance, you should contact your provider for information and next steps. If you have appropriate travel insurance you might be able to claim back the entire cost of your trip.
